Kerakoll, an Italy-based multinational company in the building industry, has purchased a new DAF XF Electric truck and will use it in an operational test program on six routes between Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Veneto. This is one of the first orders in Italy for a vehicle belonging to the Electric New Generation DAF range.

The initiative aims to check the truck’s performance, range, energy management, and economic sustainability in the field, incorporating it into first and last mile activities related to intermodal logistics. According to the announcement, the vehicle will be used for approximately twelve months, from spring 2026 to spring 2027, in a logistics context that for Kerakoll includes five railway yards and an average annual handling of approximately five million tons of materials.

DAF XF Electric: one of the first oders in Italy

The project is the result of a co-design effort developed over two years between Kerakoll and DAF Veicoli Industriali, the Italian branch of DAF Trucks. “The energy transition is not a goal that can be achieved alone, but a complex journey,” said Massimo Dodoni, CEO of DAF Veicoli Industriali. “With Kerakoll, we are sharing expertise, data, and experience to be prepared for a zero-emission future.”

Based on preliminary simulations provided by the company, the truck should maintain a charge level between 50% and 70% without the need for intermediate recharging, except on the longest route. The charging schedule includes two 70kW mobile charging stations and fast charging points in Sassuolo truck stop and at the Dtruck premises.
