AUMOVIO intends to transfer all employees and the plant to the Dumarey Group while customer relationships would remain with AUMOVIO itself. Indeed, the latter is the new brand of Continental‘s automotive division. On the other hand, Dumarey Group is a family-owned company and leader in the development and production of propulsion systems for vehicles and industrial applications.

As recently communicated, the production of AUMOVIO components is intended to continue in Mechelen for a limited period. During this time, the Dumarey Group plans to introduce new products and activities from different industries at the site. In parallel, AUMOVIO would gradually transfer production to other locations within its network.

AUMOVIO’s Mechelen manufacturing site was established in 1971 and employs around 300 people. The plant produces solenoid valves, hydraulic and electronic control units and wheel speed sensors for the automotive industry.

Statements from AUMOVIO and Dumarey Group

“We are taking another step to implement our strategy whilst ensuring continuity and providing a future perspective for the site and its employees with the Dumarey Group, which has its roots in Belgium and long-standing experience across various industry sectors including Automotive. We are confident that it is the right owner to lead this site into the future”, stated AUMOVIO CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt.

“While the automotive industry faces challenges, new business opportunities can be created. The Dumarey Group has extensive experience in repositioning companies. For the Mechelen plant, I plan to build on the manufacturing experience gained in existing market segments, whilst also combining this expertise with other initiatives that the Dumarey Group is pursuing across various sectors. I am also very happy to be active again in Belgium, a country to which I feel a strong connection, both personally and professionally”, added Guido Dumarey, President and Founder of Dumarey Group.
