During a dedicated event held in China, CATL has recently launched a battery addressed to light commercial vehicles that is capable to reach 80% state of charge in less than 7 minutes. Precisely, 6 minutes and 48 seconds, with the possibility to reach 100 percent in less than 9 minutes. The new battery model is called Tectrans II. Tectrans (or Tianxing) is a commercial vehicle battery brand released by CATL only a couple of years ago. Of course, the new battery is capable to support superfast charging.
CATL: high-speed battery for commercial vehicles
CATL offers warranty of up to 10 years and one million km. According to Chinese media outlets, the battery cells “takes only an additional 2 minutes and 30 seconds to charge in an environment of minus 20°C”. CATL is playing quite a crucial role in the development of electric vehicles also in the heavy-duty commercial vehicle sector, as the Chinese company is the first battery maker on a global scale.
Indeed, battery swap is another key business sector for CATL, as proven by the recently announced partnership with Octopus Energy and the establishment of the Swaptopus joint venture aimed at bringing battery swap also for commercial vehicles in Europe.
