Ford will halt production of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup for about six weeks, from mid-November to the beginning of the new year, due to low demand coming from the market. “We continue to adjust production for an optimal mix of sales growth and profitability,” a Ford spokesperson said, as reported by Reuters.

Ford F-150 Lightning EV

According to the renown media platform, Ford-brand U.S. EV sales are up 45% this year and sales of F-150 Lightning more than doubled to 7,100 in the three months ending Sept. 30. Nevertheless, they still represent just 3.6% of all F-Series pickup sales.

Ford is losing quite a lot of money on its EV business. This is one of the reasons why the automotive brand has been relying more and more on hybrid propulsion, also in the commercial vehicle business, as showed at the last IAA Transportation, back in September.
