Kempower joins ChargeUp Europe to support a consumer-first EV charging rollout
Finland-headquartered DC fast charging manufacturer Kempower has joined ChargeUp Europe, the industry coalition founded in 2020 to accelerate Europe’s EV charging rollout. The company will contribute to policy work alongside more than 40 members, backing open standards and strong cybersecurity.
Kempower has become the latest EV charging company to join ChargeUp Europe, the collective representing firms across the charging value chain — from equipment manufacturers and charge point operators to software providers, recyclers and research institutes — with the aim of speeding up Europe’s charging infrastructure buildout.
Founded in 2020, ChargeUp Europe positions itself as a unified voice for the EV charging market. The organisation says its mission is to promote a consumer-first rollout of charging infrastructure, improve the convenience of EV driving across borders through an open-market model, and help remove barriers that can slow deployment, including grid constraints and data-sharing challenges.
To become a member, Kempower had to meet a set of criteria, including supporting a smooth e-mobility transition based on open and uniform communication protocols and standards, and committing to high cybersecurity requirements.
As part of ChargeUp Europe, Kempower representatives will take part in regular discussions with the coalition’s more than 40 member companies, contributing the company’s expertise and supporting policy initiatives intended to accelerate infrastructure deployment across Europe.
“At Kempower, everything we do is underpinned by our mission to foster a more sustainable tomorrow through electrifying transportation”, said Jussi Vanhanen, Kempower’s Chief Product Officer. “Charging is an essential part of the equation and it must be able to happen seamlessly, reliably and universally for consumers. It was a natural step for us to join ChargeUp Europe and collaborate with industry peers who are equally committed to making this a reality”.
Lucie Mattera, Secretary General of ChargeUp Europe, added: “We are delighted to welcome Kempower as our newest ChargeUp Europe member. Kempower’s excellence in DC fast-charging technology, including solutions for heavy-duty vehicles and high-power charging environments, already brings recognised and valuable expertise to our industry, and now to ChargeUp Europe’s work”.
