IAA 2026, MAHLE to showcase heavy-duty electrification technologies

MAHLE will unveil a range of new technologies for zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026, including a heavy-duty e-axle, advanced thermal management solutions and fuel cell components designed to improve the efficiency and performance of next-generation trucks.

MAHLE will use IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover to showcase a portfolio of technologies aimed at supporting the electrification of the heavy-duty transport sector. The company’s exhibit will focus on electric drivetrains, thermal management and fuel cell systems, reflecting the industry’s growing demand for integrated solutions for zero-emission commercial vehicles.

Among the highlights is a new heavy-duty electric axle, designed for both battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The system integrates two electric motors based on MAHLE’s Superior Continuous Torque (SCT) technology, delivering high continuous power while reducing weight and installation space. The e-axle also incorporates the company’s liquid management system, contributing to more efficient thermal control.

MAHLE will also present its latest fuel cell technologies, including peripheral components and thermal management solutions developed to improve the performance and durability of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty vehicles. The company says these systems are designed to optimise operating temperatures while increasing overall efficiency.

Another key exhibit will be MAHLE’s high-performance bionic fan, engineered to deliver the cooling capacity required by electric and fuel cell trucks while significantly reducing noise levels. The fan’s biomimetic blade design improves aerodynamic efficiency, making it particularly suitable for next-generation commercial vehicles.

Complementing the portfolio is an evaporative cooling system developed for fuel cell applications. By enhancing thermal regulation, the solution helps optimise fuel cell operation while contributing to lower hydrogen consumption.

The technologies MAHLE is bringing to IAA Transportation underline the growing importance of integrated electric drivetrains and advanced thermal management in the heavy-duty sector. As truck manufacturers accelerate the rollout of battery-electric and hydrogen-powered models, suppliers are increasingly focusing on complete system solutions that improve efficiency, reliability and vehicle performance.
