Developers from Mercedes-Benz Trucks successfully charged for the first time a prototype of the eActros 600, which was presented last year, at a charging station with an output of one megawatt at the in-house development and testing center in Wörth am Rhein.

Milence, the joint venture shared by Volvo, Daimler Truck and Traton, aims to deploy at least 1,700 hi-speed charging points by 2027 along the main European freight corridors. The very first hubs are being opened, but there's still a lot of work to do. And no time to lose.

The electric truck, provided by Columbus-based company Cummins, will drive over the test bed as part of a pilot program tentatively planned to start next year. The hope is to electrify a section of an Indiana interstate in the next four to five years.
