Tata Motors to complete Iveco Group acquisition by Q3, 2026
The entire operation was announced more or less one year ago. The news comes from several media platforms, including Indian ET Auto. The international website quotes Tata Chairman N Chandrasekaran, speaking at the company's annual general meeting.
CORRECTION: This afternoon, Wednesday, June 30, we mistakenly reported that the closing of Tata Motors’ acquisition of the Iveco Group would be postponed to the second quarter of 2027. We were mistaken, and we apologize to those directly affected and to our readers, as we misinterpreted a report by ET Auto, India’s leading automotive media outlet, which stated that the deadline for the transaction had been set for the second quarter of 2027—but according to the Indian fiscal calendar. Q2 2027 on the Indian fiscal calendar, in fact, corresponds to the third quarter of 2026 on the Anglo-Saxon fiscal calendar. Therefore, there is no change from what Iveco Group itself announced in early May. We have corrected the article you are reading.
Tata Motors is expected to complete the acquisition of Iveco Group by Q3, 2026, as already communicated by the two companies. The entire operation was announced more or less one year ago. The news comes from several media platforms, including Indian ET Auto. The international website quotes Tata Chairman N Chandrasekaran, speaking at the company’s annual general meeting.
Tata Motors’ Chairman speaking about the IVECO operation
“We have secured the majority of these regulatory approvals, arnd are progressing well on the remaining few. We look forward to completing the transaction by Q3, 2026”, he said. Tata Motors is expected to increase international footprint by acquiring Iveco Group. As reported last year, the entire operation, which does not include the Defense business, is worth 3.8 billion euros.
Besides the truck segment, Tata Motors highlighted the importance to access the advanced powertrain business, by acquiring also FPT, the driveline branch of Iveco Group, with headquarters located in Turin. On July 3, IVECO is hosting an international event about the latest updates in the truck range: we’ll report from Turin in the next few days.
