MAN has lately launched the first electric trucks, now in operations on German roads and beyond. These are the same trucks that are mass-produced at the German manufacturer’s Munich plant, as we reported here. As we were saying, around 200 of these electric trucks are currently in use in real transport operations and, according to MAN’s calculations, have so far covered over 5 million kilometers.

More specifically, the automotive industry, forestry, construction, and food logistics are some of the areas in which zero-emission trucks have been used so far, by customers such as Duvenbeck, Behrens, DB Schenker, and Jacky Perrenot.

MAN electric trucks: some more figures available

So far, the approximately 200 electric trucks put into service by some customers before the start of series production are estimated to have saved around 3,600 tons of carbon dioxide compared to diesel trucks with a consumption of around 27 liters per 100 km. The trucks’ average consumption was about 90 kWh per 100 km.

As we wrote here, in the first half of 2025, MAN recorded 238% growth in electric vehicles compared to the same period last year, albeit starting from a low, if not zero, base. According to the manufacturer, there are already 800 pre-orders for MAN electric trucks, in addition to pre-agreements and letters of intent, again at European level, in various sectors.

“The five million kilometres covered in customer use are impressive proof of the practical suitability of our MAN eTrucks. Whether in automotive, timber or food logistics, the versatility of the vehicles is convincing across all industries. With our series production, we are now broadening this strength and providing our customers with the best solutions for sustainable road freight transport.”, commented Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board of MAN Truck & Bus SE for Sales and Customer Service.
