In Spain, Dachser has introduced two battery-electric trucks from Chinese OEM BYD, marking a notable addition to a fleet that has historically relied predominantly on European manufacturers. The vehicles — model ETM6 — are 7.5-tonne distribution trucks designed for urban logistics operations. The news was reported by some media platforms, such as Electrive, and appeared on LinkedIn. as well.

Dachser is one of Europe’s leading logistics providers and an early mover in the electrification of road freight transport. The company currently operates 160 battery-electric trucks above 3.5 tonnes GVW across Europe, serving both regional distribution and longer-haul routes. Its charging infrastructure comprises more than 800 charging points, supplied exclusively with self-generated or procured renewable electricity.

Indeed, the international company has established emission-free delivery zones in 25 European cities, deploying only battery-electric trucks and cargo bikes within defined urban areas.

BYD ETM6 expands Spanish fleet

The ETM6 measures 5.95 metres in length, 2.10 metres in width and 2.94 metres in height. Depending on body configuration, payload capacity reaches up to 4 tonnes. The vehicle is equipped with a 126 kWh battery, delivering a range of approximately 200 km — positioning it for inner-city and regional distribution applications.

The trucks are now in operation at Dachser’s logistics centres in Barcelona and Valencia. The procurement followed an extensive trial phase, during which Dachser personnel logged around 3,500 km under real operating conditions.

BYD truck adoption is gradually expanding

For BYD Europe, the deployment signals the beginning of a strategic collaboration in the logistics sector. The ETM6 remains relatively rare in European operations, although adoption is gradually expanding. BYD has in fact established distribution partnerships in several European markets, including Hungary, Poland and Switzerland.
