Rhenus adds 51 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vans to its German home delivery fleet
Mercedes-Benz Vans has delivered 51 fully electric eSprinter chassis cabs to logistics provider Rhenus, equipped with box bodies by Junge Fahrzeugbau. The vehicles will operate across Germany, supporting last-mile deliveries of furniture, household appliances and other bulky goods as part of Rhenus' Home Delivery services.

Rhenus has added 51 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vehicles to its German delivery operations, further expanding the use of battery-electric vans in its last-mile logistics activities. The vehicles, delivered by Mercedes-Benz Vans and fitted with box bodies manufactured by Junge Fahrzeugbau, are now being deployed nationwide for Rhenus’ Home Delivery services.
These operations include the storage, regional distribution and delivery of new furniture, large household appliances and consumer electronics directly to customers’ homes or designated locations.
The deployment highlights the role of electric chassis-cab vehicles in logistics applications requiring specialised bodywork and substantial cargo space.
Mercedes-Benz eSprinter: battery and charging specifications
All 51 vehicles are based on the rear-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz eSprinter chassis, equipped with an 81 kWh high-voltage battery and a 100 kW electric motor. Charging capabilities include AC charging at up to 11 kW and DC fast charging at up to 115 kW.
The eSprinter chassis were manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfelde, Germany, before being fitted with box bodies by Junge Fahrzeugbau. The vehicles also feature the MBUX multimedia system, connected services and driver assistance technologies.
Electric vans for bulky goods deliveries
The 51 eSprinter vehicles will support Rhenus’ existing Home Delivery operations, which involve transporting large and often heavy consumer goods to final customers.
Unlike conventional parcel delivery, these services require vehicles capable of accommodating bulky loads and specialised cargo configurations.
“The delivery of these 51 vehicles shows that battery-electric vans can already be an established part of professional logistics solutions,” said Andreas Böger, Head of New Vehicle Sales, Mercedes-Benz Vans Germany. “Together with Rhenus and Junge Fahrzeugbau, we are bringing electric mobility into everyday delivery operations.”
The delivery also illustrates the growing availability of purpose-built electric commercial vehicles for specialised urban and regional distribution activities.
