Renault Trucks to bring 660 km E-Tech T 780 to IAA 2026

Renault Trucks will showcase the latest expansion of its electric truck range at IAA Transportation 2026, with vehicles covering applications from urban delivery to regional and long-haul transport.

Leading the line-up in Hannover will be the Renault Trucks E-Tech T 780, the manufacturer’s new long-haul electric tractor offering a range of up to 660 km on a single charge.

The extended range is enabled by a new architecture using an e-axle, which moves the main electric driveline components to the rear and frees additional space between the chassis rails for batteries. Renault Trucks says the 660 km range is sufficient to cover a full legal driving day without intermediate charging.

The E-Tech T 780 is configured as a 6×2 tractor and offers payload capacity of up to 27 tonnes. Renault Trucks has also introduced two other versions of the E-Tech T: the 585, with up to 500 km of range, and the E-Tech T 540, offering up to 450 km and primarily intended for regional distribution.

Electric trucks from long haul to urban distribution

The E-Tech T 540 will join the 780 on the Renault Trucks stand, alongside the E-Tech D 14T, the latest addition to the manufacturer’s electric distribution range.

Designed for urban operations, the 14-tonne truck combines a narrow cab with a turning radius of less than 7.3 metres, targeting applications where access and manoeuvrability are particularly important.

Renault Trucks will also dedicate part of its IAA presence to electric light commercial vehicles. The E-Tech Master Offroad, aimed primarily at light construction applications, will be displayed with increased ground clearance and dedicated equipment for accessing worksites.

More significantly, the manufacturer will showcase a next-generation electric LCV developed by Flexis, based on a dedicated skateboard platform and Software Defined Vehicle architecture. Renault Trucks confirmed earlier this year that it will distribute Flexis electric vans through its European network as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the LCV market. The company aims to double its light commercial vehicle sales by 2030.

New Renault Trucks T High 2027 to make its debut

Electric vehicles will not be the only new products in Hannover. Renault Trucks will also stage the world premiere of the T High Model Year 2027, equipped with the new DE13 R diesel engine.

The new powertrain is claimed to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by up to 4% compared with the previous generation. It will be available with outputs of up to 540 hp and 2,800 Nm and paired with a revised Optidriver transmission and a more powerful engine brake.

Renault Trucks will therefore use IAA to cover both sides of its current product strategy: further improving the efficiency of its conventional long-haul range while extending battery-electric technology into a growing number of transport applications.
