Voltix opens 1.5 MW electric truck charging station in France
Voltix, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, has inaugurated its first public charging station dedicated to electric heavy-duty trucks in Vierzon, central France. With four charging points offering up to 1.5 MW each, the site is designed to support long-distance freight transport and marks the beginning of a wider European charging network.

Voltix has officially opened its first high-power charging station for electric trucks in Vierzon, in the Cher department of France. Inaugurated on 2 October, the facility is described by the operator as the most powerful public truck charging station currently operating in the country.
The site features four charging points, each offering up to 1.5 MW through the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). Each point is also equipped with a CCS connector, supporting charging at up to 400 kW. The facility is expected to expand to eight charging points in the future.
According to Voltix, the infrastructure is designed to enable electric trucks to recover sufficient driving range in approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on vehicle capabilities and charging conditions. This would allow charging sessions to coincide with drivers’ mandatory rest breaks.
A strategic location for long-distance electric trucks
The station is located near the intersection of three major French motorways: the A20 connecting Paris and Toulouse, the A71 towards Clermont-Ferrand and the A85 towards Tours and the Atlantic coast.
This location makes Vierzon an important crossroads for domestic and international freight movements, providing an opportunity to integrate high-power charging into existing logistics routes.
The station is publicly accessible around the clock and has been designed specifically for heavy-duty vehicles, rather than passenger cars.
Voltix targets 50 charging stations by 2028
The Vierzon opening represents the first operational site in Voltix’s planned European network, which aims to reach 50 charging stations by 2028.
In September 2026, VINCI Concessions, Épopée Gestion and ADEME Investissement announced a joint investment of approximately €90 million to finance an initial phase of around 20 charging stations, primarily in France, with further expansion planned in Germany and Spain.
The Vierzon project also benefits from European support through the Connecting Europe Facility – Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (CEF-AFIF), as part of efforts to develop charging infrastructure along the Trans-European Transport Network.
For electric truck operators, the development of dedicated megawatt charging infrastructure is a key step towards making battery-electric vehicles suitable for a wider range of transport operations, including long-distance routes.
