French logistics group GEODIS has ordered 110 battery-electric heavy-duty trucks from Renault Trucks and Volvo Trucks as part of its fleet electrification programme. The 44-tonne vehicles are scheduled for delivery by May 2027 and will be deployed in France for urban deliveries and long-distance road freight operations.

Once the new vehicles are delivered, the electric truck fleet operated by GEODIS’ European Road Network division will reach 190 units.

The company has not disclosed the breakdown of the order between the two manufacturers, nor specified which truck models will be supplied.

GEODIS develops electric truck charging corridors in France

Alongside the vehicle investment, GEODIS is expanding its charging infrastructure to support electric truck operations on major French transport routes.

The company is developing electric charging corridors with charging opportunities every 250 to 500 kilometres, combining fleet deployment with infrastructure planning.

GEODIS currently has access to a network of approximately 60 charging points, which it intends to expand to more than 200 by 2030.

The approach is particularly relevant for long-distance freight transport, where charging availability and route planning are essential to integrating battery-electric trucks into daily operations.

Fleet electrification and emissions reduction

“The arrival of these new electric vehicles is part of a global decarbonization strategy and meets the expectations of our clients,” said Marc Vollet, Managing Director of the European Road Network at GEODIS.

According to Vollet, the investment in vehicles and infrastructure supports the company’s emissions-reduction trajectory, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
