The German transport company Contargo has put 33 electric XD 350 FT 4×2 tractor units into service. More into details, the vehicles will be used, among other things, for transporting containers between Contargo’s 25 container terminals in Germany, France, and Switzerland.

Back in time, in 2019, Contargo was one of the first German transport companies to put two fully electric DAF CF trucks into operation, and subsequently expanded this number. Now, Contargo operates a fleet of nearly 100 fully electric trucks.

Contargo to rely on DAF XD electric trucks

“The handover of the 33 DAF Electric trucks is an important step for us in further expanding zero‑emission transport. The XD Electric shows how sustainability, safety, and efficiency can be perfectly combined with great driver comfort”, said Michael Starke, Managing Director of Contargo Truck Fleet.

DAF has recently introduced the revised and updated New Generation DAF XD, XF, XG and XG⁺ Electric. The 33 DAF XD Electric tractors received by Contargo are equipped with five battery packs, giving them a ’zero emission’ range of more than 500 km. Additionally, all vehicles delivered to Contargo have a Sleeper High Cab, which offers an excellent seating position, a spacious interior, and a highly comfortable bed.

“The delivery of 33 new XD Electric trucks to Contargo emphasizes the technological lead of our new generation of electric vehicles, and above all the shared ambition to make the logistics sector cleaner, smarter and future‑proof“, commented Harald Seidel, President of DAF Trucks. “We are proud of the long‑standing partnership with Contargo and will continue taking the next steps of the energy transition together.”
