The manufacturer’s approach remains the same, and continues to focus on technological diversity, meaning a range of vehicles with different fuel types. What has changed, however, is the heavy and light line-up with which IVECO is presenting itself to the market. The Electric Days held this week at the Industrial Village in Turin served to officially launch four electric vehicles—almost all of which are already available and can be ordered—including both heavy and light vehicles. For us, they served above all as an opportunity to test them on the road, hoping to soon be able to test them on more challenging routes.

Hosting the event was Massimiliano Perri, General Manager IVECO Italy, who delivered an important message eagerly awaited by the market: IVECO is also playing a decisive role in the electric vehicle market, in Italy and beyond. All this at the beginning of a year that will effectively be IVECO’s first full year under the new ownership of the Tata group, and which begins with an analysis of what happened in 2025. Last year, IVECO sold just over 22,000 heavy, medium, and light vehicles in Italy, with an overall market share of around 25%. This is down from recent years, which had been particularly positive for the Turin-based brand.

IVECO S-eWay tractor and cab: two different technical projects

Indeed, the highlight of our day at the Village, however, was the new additions to the range. All eyes were therefore on the S-eWay in its two versions, tractor and rigid: two different designs, starting with the aesthetics, but also the powertrain differs between the two versions, while the interior, except for a few small details, is that of the Model year 2024 that we have come to know in recent years. The S-eWay electric road tractor has a honeycomb grille at the front. Compared to the diesel or LNG version, the wheelbase is slightly longer, now measuring 3,932 millimeters, to make room for the batteries, which are supplied by Chinese market leader CATL and are available in a three-pack configuration with a total capacity of 603 kWh, for a range that can reach 600 kilometers in certain conditions. The batteries are LFP chemistry with a maximum charging power of 350 kW. Power is provided by the electric axle developed by FPT, which delivers 480 kW (approximately 645 horsepower). The suspension is fully pneumatic.

As mentioned, the line-up of the cab version of the S-eWay is different and more flexible, starting with the front end, which is more reminiscent of thermal models. The available configurations are 4×2 and 6×2 with 20 and 28 tons of gross vehicle weight, respectively. Power is provided by the electric axle with 480 kW (645 hp) motors, while the NMC batteries developed by Microvast and assembled by FPT have a purely modular design: each pack has a capacity of 70 kWh and up to seven can be fitted, giving a maximum capacity of 490 kWh for a range of approximately 400 km. The batteries are mounted longitudinally in the central part of the chassis or outside the side members. Here, there is a choice between the Day cab and the one equipped with a bed. Due to the characteristics of the vehicle, which is designed for short and medium ranges, configurability is a fundamental element.

IVECO eSuperJolly and eJolly: the brand-new LCV line-up

Moving on to the new electric vans in the range, the result of the agreement announced last year with Stellantis, IVECO’s light range is expanding significantly. The first of the two models available is the eSuperJolly, derived from the Ducato, which IVECO envisages as complementary to the Daily, although the two models share some of the same tonnage and bodywork. The new eSuperJolly, which can be driven with a B license, is available with a total mass of 3.5 and 4.2 tons. Power is provided by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak power output of 205 kW (equivalent to approximately 280 horsepower), while energy is supplied by 111 kWh CATL batteries for a range of over 400 km, according to IVECO. The cargo compartment offers enough volume to accommodate up to five full-height Euro pallets.

The eJolly, derived from the Fiat Scudo, is positioned in the N1 segment, which IVECO has not explored until now, thanks to its total curb weight ranging from 2.8 to 3.2 tons. Its height of less than 1.9 m and length of less than 5 m make it a compact vehicle, while its 49 or 75 kWh batteries promise a range of up to 250 kilometers. In this case too, the motor is a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a power output of 100 kW, or 135 hp. The target market is professionals or companies operating in a purely urban environment, as well as temperature-controlled transport.
