Lidl Austria signs agreement for 42 additional Mercedes eActros 600 electric trucks
As part of its group-wide climate strategy “Net Zero by 2050,” Lidl Austria is focusing on developing sustainable transport concepts, making it a pioneer in Austrian grocery retail. Electric trucks have been in daily use since 2024.
In addition to the 14 battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 units already delivered, Lidl Austria has signed another framework agreement for 42 battery-electric units, which will be delivered by mid-2027. As we could read in the official note, recently, the first eActros 600 vehicles were ceremoniously put into operation during the opening of the new charging park at Lidl’s logistics site in Laakirchen.
Lidl Austria to rely on Mercedes electric trucks
As part of its group-wide climate strategy “Net Zero by 2050,” Lidl Austria is focusing on developing sustainable transport concepts, making it a pioneer in Austrian grocery retail. Electric trucks have been in daily use since 2024. The vehicles use 100% green electricity, for example, generated by photovoltaic systems on the roofs of logistics centers.
“We are very proud of the successful market launch of the eActros 600 in Austria. We are also delighted to support Lidl on its journey towards sustainable transport. This demonstrates that electrification in national long-haul and distribution transport is becoming a reality,” commented Jens Tittel, CEO Daimler Truck Austria.
