MAN Truck & Bus is set to invest around €1.2 billion in its Kraków manufacturing site, reinforcing Poland’s strategic role within the company’s European production network. The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MAN and the Polish government, outlining investments that will be rolled out over the coming years.

The first phase of the programme, scheduled to run until 2030, will focus on expanding the plant’s production capacity while preparing it for the next generation of MAN trucks based on the TRATON Modular System (TMS). The project includes new cab welding and paint facilities as well as additional assembly capacity. Once completed, the production area at the Kraków plant will increase from approximately 130,000 square metres to around 270,000 square metres.

Kraków to become MAN’s second production site for BEVs

At the same time, Kraków will become MAN’s second production site for battery-electric trucks, following Munich. Series production of the new MAN eTGL is scheduled to begin in mid-July, complementing the existing eTGM and completing MAN’s electric truck portfolio for gross vehicle weights ranging from 12 to 50 tonnes.

Commenting on the investment, MAN Truck & Bus CEO Alexander Vlaskamp said the programme would “further strengthen our presence in Europe” while preparing the company for the industry’s ongoing transformation.

Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics, described the start of eTGL production as “another important milestone on the road to zero-emission mobility”, adding that the company is investing not only in vehicles but also in the services needed to support customers throughout the transition to electric transport.

The investment underlines MAN’s long-term strategy of modernising its manufacturing footprint while accelerating the rollout of battery-electric commercial vehicles. It also confirms Poland’s growing importance as a manufacturing hub for the European commercial vehicle industry, as truck makers continue to invest in production capacity dedicated to next-generation technologies.
