Officially launched at the end of September, this year, the brand-new eActros 400 electric truck model has just started series production at the company’s main factory located in Wörth am Rhein. As we already know, the technological basis for the new variants is provided by the eActros 600, which has been in series production in Wörth since the end of 2024.

As stated by Mercedes-Benz Trucks, in the future, the truck maker will offer the eActros as the eActros 400 with two battery packs and as the eActros 600 with three battery packs – each available as a tractor unit or flatbed chassis, depending on individual requirements in terms of application, range, and payload. In addition, customers will be able to choose between two cabs in the future.

Additionally, the new models will be manufactured on the existing assembly line for the Wörth A-series. There, battery-electric trucks will be produced in parallel and flexibly alongside diesel-powered models. This enables the plant to respond quickly to market demand and reliably meet the demanding quality standards of Mercedes-Benz. The Daimler Truck plants in Mannheim, Kassel, and Gaggenau also make key contributions to production: they supply essential components of the electric powertrain, including the electric axle, transmission components, and the so-called front box. This box bundles numerous high-voltage and low-voltage elements and is located in the former installation space of the combustion engine.

Speaking of the production site, the largest truck assembly plant of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Wörth am Rhein was founded in 1963. Since the beginning, around 4.4 million trucks have been built here. Today, these are the Actros, Arocs, and Atego series. The Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks Econic, Unimog, and Zetros are also built in Wörth. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has had electric trucks in its portfolio since 2021. The eActros 300/400 was the first battery-electric vehicle to be introduced for heavy-duty distribution transport, followed a year later by the eEconic. At the end of 2024, series production of the second model generation began with the eActros 600 for long-distance transport. With around 10,000 employees, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth is one of the largest employers in Rhineland-Palatinate.
