Quantron is starting a new chapter in the zero-emission commercial vehicle market through a new Sino-European venture in China. Together with Chinese autonomous driving technology company HyperView, the company has established Quantron China, a joint venture headquartered in Shaoxing, with Foxconn selected as industrial manufacturing partner.

The project aims to combine German vehicle engineering and integration expertise with Chinese manufacturing capabilities, autonomous driving technologies and supply chains. The partners intend to address markets in China, Europe and the Middle East, developing a new generation of battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicles.

According to the companies, Quantron China will serve as a platform for the development, industrialisation and international deployment of zero-emission trucks and buses. Foxconn will contribute its manufacturing and supply-chain expertise, while HyperView will bring autonomous driving and intelligent vehicle technologies to the partnership.

A new company, not the former Quantron AG

The new operation should not be confused with the former Quantron AG, the Augsburg-based company whose financial difficulties led to insolvency proceedings being opened on 1 January 2025.

On 1 April 2025, Andreas Haller Holding GmbH acquired all relevant assets of Quantron AG and its remaining core team of 35 employees through an asset deal. An initially considered insolvency plan that would have preserved the Quantron AG legal entity could not be implemented, according to the insolvency administrator.

The Quantron brand was retained and its activities are now continued under the umbrella of Haller Group rather than through the former Quantron AG. Quantron is currently presented as the zero-emission commercial vehicle brand and mobility business of Andreas Haller Holding.

Quantron China therefore represents a new corporate and industrial structure built around the Quantron brand, rather than an expansion into China by the former Quantron AG.

A new Gen2 platform for electric and hydrogen trucks

At the centre of the new venture is the development of the Quantron Gen2 platform, conceived for a new generation of zero-emission trucks and buses.

The architecture is intended to accommodate both battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell powertrains, while integrating software, connectivity and automated driving technologies.

HyperView will contribute its expertise in autonomous driving and intelligent vehicle systems, while Quantron will bring vehicle engineering, integration and zero-emission commercial vehicle know-how to the project.

Foxconn, meanwhile, has been selected as industrial manufacturing partner. The collaboration is expected to include scalable production structures and industrialised supply chains for the future truck and bus platforms.

The partners expect the first complete vehicle based on the Gen2 platform to make its public debut in the first half of 2027.

Before then, Quantron China is targeting the deployment of a validation fleet of 100 zero-emission commercial vehicles with European customers by the end of 2026, providing an initial real-world test of the new industrial and technological approach.

Quantron China looks beyond the Chinese market

Although headquartered in China, the new company has been conceived with an international scope. Quantron China intends to use the combination of European engineering and Chinese technology and manufacturing capabilities to address customers in Europe, China and the Middle East.

The partnership also reflects a broader strategy of combining vehicle development with energy, software and autonomous driving technologies rather than focusing solely on the production of individual trucks and buses.

The partners ultimately aim to build an ecosystem capable of supporting more than 100,000 zero-emission commercial vehicles worldwide over the next ten years. At this stage, however, the figure represents a long-term target rather than confirmed production or sales volumes.
