The aim of the project is to ease traffic flows on the Brenner Pass, avoid congestion, reduce CO2 and noise emissions, and increase security of supply – especially during the holiday season. MAN also highlights the possible savings in terms of tolls.

The Munich-based manufacturer boasts about 800 electric vehicles sold, including also buses. As for Scania, zero-emission vehicle sales increased to 117 units, compared to 62 units one year ago. Zero-emission vehicle orders amounted to 156 units, compared to 141 units in the first half of 2024.

The Smart Charging Cube, offered in cooperation with AW Automotive, can be operated in a vehicle depot or maintenance yard as well as in decentralised locations, such as construction sites. The Cube is essentially a battery with power electronics and a charging station.

The 9,000 Group R&D employees will be joining forces with around 3,000 colleagues in R&D teams at the TRATON brands. According to the Group, "by repositioning Research & Development, the entire Group will capitalize on the TRATON Modular System to a far greater extent than before".

The truck-compatible charging network currently comprises around 650 locations. By the end of 2025, around 1,000 charging locations will comply with the eTruck ready standard. In addition, the MAN Charge&Go charging card is accepted at over 15,000 other charging locations across Europe.
