The well-established Treviso-based transport company Codognotto has acquired a Volvo FH Aero Electric (Sustainable Truck of the Year 2025 in the E-Truck category) that will enable it to transport furniture on behalf of Inter IKEA Group on three different routes between IKEA warehouse and two IKEA stores in Northern Italy, with an estimated 252 days of operation per year.

The electric truck, in combination with the semi-trailer, has a total weight of 44 tons, while the battery packs that power the motor have a capacity of 540 kWh for an estimated range of approximately 500 km per day, with the possibility of recharging, of course. As stated by Volvo, the project aims to efficiently integrate inbound and outbound logistics, connecting IKEA suppliers to distribution centers and subsequently to stores in Corsico (near Milan) and Padua. IKEA aims to achieve 100% zero-emission deliveries by the end of the decade.

We are confident that this new transport system will generate significant value, contributing in particular to improving air quality and reducing noise pollution on Italian roads,” said Ewelina Taylor, Global Transport Manager at Inter IKEA Group.
