Ford Pro has unveiled the new Transit City, an electric commercial vehicle designed for urban operations. The model will be available for order from the second half of 2026, with the first units expected to arrive in early 2027.

According to the company’s announcement, the new Transit City will be available in three configurations: the L1H1 panel van, the L2H2 panel van, and the chassis cab. The most compact variant, the L1H1, is designed for distribution in the most congested areas and can carry up to three Euro pallets, with a stated payload of up to 1,085 kg. The L2H2 model, on the other hand, offers 8.5 cubic meters of cargo volume, a payload length exceeding 3 meters, and a payload of up to 1,275 kg. The chassis cab, meanwhile, is aimed at bodybuilders for applications such as specialized deliveries or municipal services.

The new Ford Transit City will arrive next year

Ford Pro is focusing on a simplified approach, with a comprehensive standard equipment package. The vans include a cargo floor liner, half-height interior panels, and tie-down points, in a configuration the manufacturer describes as designed to reduce “costs and complexity”.

From a technical standpoint, the Transit City features a 56-kWh LFP battery (usable capacity) and a 110-kW front-mounted electric motor. The maximum claimed range is up to 254 km. Ford maintains that this figure aligns with real-world usage: based on data collected from its connected vehicles, “90% of vans in this segment travel an average of less than 110 kilometers per day.

Charging times and maintenance costs

Charging times are also specified: approximately 5.2 hours on 11 kW AC to go from 10% to 100%, or about 30 minutes on 67 kW DC to go from 10% to 80%. With fast charging, the company also indicates a range recovery of about 50 km in 10 minutes.

Among the features highlighted by Ford Pro are an estimated reduction in maintenance costs of approximately 40% compared to equivalent diesel models, maintenance intervals set at two years or 40,000 kilometers, and standard safety features that include automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.
