Ivan Espinosa has been appointed CEO of Nissan. He replaces former top manager Makoto Uchida, effective April 1st. Espinosa is the current chief planning officer. From April, he will be representative executive officer, president, and CEO of Nissan.

Nissan’s new CEO

Along with the appointment of Ivan Espinosa, several more changes have been communicated in Nissan’s Executive Committee. These are summarized here. Nissan was in talks with Honda for a possible merger of the two automakers. Not long ago, the two Japanese companies announced the end of negotiations: there won’t be an all-Japanese agreement, apparently.

Renault owns a share of 36% of Nissan. Now, the French manufacturer seems to be willing to sell its shares. Among the possible buyers, Taiwanese company Foxconn was quoted by the media recently. Now, according to some media reports, Espinosa might restore the negotiations with Honda.
