Windrose to assemble electric trucks (now EU-homologated) in Antwerp
Windrose will ship components to Antwerp, where the electric trucks will be assembled. The finished vehicles, which meet all required European certifications, will then be exported to other European markets and potentially North America as well.
Chinese e-truck manufacturer Windrose is ready to assemble its electric trucks in Europe. Precisely, the startup will use the Port of Antwerp-Bruges facilities, as announced a few months ago. In the Belgian city, the Chinese manufacturer is indeed establishing its first European flagship site, called Windrose Park Antwerp, along the Noorderlaan. In addition to truck assembly, Windrose will also carry out R&D and after-sales activities in Belgium.
Windrose’s plans for Europe start from Antwerp
The concession follows a market consultation for two plots totalling 9.5 hectares on the Romeynsweel site along the Noorderlaan in Antwerp, with a focus on logistics and assembly activities. Windrose will ship components to Antwerp, where the electric trucks will be assembled. The finished vehicles, which meet all required European certifications, will then be exported to other European markets and potentially North America as well.

As for the truck EU homologation, Windrose stated that after 18 months, the E700 electric truck is now 100% EU-homologated and officially registered in Belgium. “This isn’t just a license plate, it’s the final key unlocking our full potential to operate legally across Europe. Our truck is now ready for commercialization and real-world deployment”.
The possibility to create at least 200 full-time jobs
Windrose Park Antwerp will be developed through a joint venture with Antwerp-based real estate partner Van Wellen Group and has the potential to create around 200 full-time jobs in the longer term. “With Windrose, we are welcoming a new, innovative player in sustainable mobility to our port. The fact that a manufacturer of electric trucks has chosen Antwerp as its European flagship site underlines the international appeal of Port of Antwerp-Bruges. This project not only creates additional economic activity and employment, but also strengthens our role as a logistics hub and as a centre for the industry of the future”, stated Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

“We are beyond excited to make Antwerp the home of the first flagship Windrose Park site. This is the beginning of our mission to ignite a global ecosystem of transportation electrification together with our partners in automotive supply chain, self-driving technology, renewable energy, and industrial logistics. We hope this site can become the textbook case for other future sites in China, France, United States, and other parts of our 5-continent footprint”, added Wen Han, CEO of Windrose.
