Farizon Auto is a subsidiary of Chinese automotive group Geely (here’s an interview with top management). The company has recently introduced its new commercial battery, called the “Black Tortoise Battery”. This innovative product promises a lifespan of 10 years and 800,000 km, encased in a slim 150 mm shell.

The first vehicle to feature this battery will be Farizon Auto’s V7E commercial van, with other models like the smaller Farizon V6E Plus to follow. The new battery gives the Farizon V7E an estimated CLTC range of 305 km, with a Geely-tested range of 285 km.

This battery comes with a liquid-cooling fast-charging system, capable of handling over 6000 charge cycles per cell. The integrated drive system boasts an energy efficiency of up to 97.86%. Although the exact chemistry of the battery has not been disclosed, it is likely an LFP pack.

Founded by Geely in 2016, Farizon Auto focuses on the development and sales of new energy commercial vehicles in China. In 2023, the company raised 600 million USD in a Series-A funding round led by Boyu Capital and Yuexie Industrial Fund. Farizon Auto plans to expand its focus to Europe, aiming to become one of the top three electric cargo van suppliers on the continent.

To date, Farizon has delivered over 100,000 vehicles, with orders coming from Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and the Middle East. The first batch of the Farizon V6E was shipped to Turkey earlier this year, and the Farizon V7E is also expected to be exported in the near future.
