Finnish charging technology specialist Kempower has signed a partnership with Evergreen Mobility to support the development of a heavy-duty charging network in France. The agreement covers both public charging facilities along major freight routes and depot installations designed for overnight charging.

The first two sites equipped with Kempower’s megawatt-ready charging technology were installed earlier in 2026. One is located at a public truck stop in Lapalisse, along the N7 road in the Allier department, while the second serves Kimmel Transport’s depot in Thal-Drulingen, in eastern France.

Both installations are already operational and have collectively recorded approximately 300 charging sessions, delivering several tens of megawatt-hours of electricity to battery-electric trucks.

Megawatt-ready charging at two French locations

Each site features a Kempower Mega Satellite, currently operating at 250 kW but designed to scale up to 1.2 MW, subject to increased grid capacity.

In addition, each location has four Kempower Satellites capable of delivering up to 300 kW of peak charging power, supporting longer charging sessions, including overnight operations.

The installations use Kempower’s distributed DC charging architecture. Central Power Units supply individual charging dispensers, allowing available power to be dynamically shared between connected trucks.

This configuration is intended to improve the utilisation of installed capacity and allow charging facilities to expand as demand and grid connections develop.

Evergreen Mobility finances and operates the infrastructure

An important aspect of the partnership concerns the business model adopted by Evergreen Mobility. The French operator finances the installation and operation of charging infrastructure, covering both initial investment and running costs on behalf of fleet operators and charging site hosts.

Companies providing space for the chargers can generate additional revenue through rental agreements, without having to directly manage the charging infrastructure.

“We want a network fleet operators can plan around,” said Guillaume Cosson, Roll-Out & Product Manager at Evergreen Mobility. According to Cosson, the objective is to install charging capacity at locations already used by transport operators, while removing investment barriers for site owners.
