Italian logistics company Fratelli Foppiani Trasporti has partnered with Kempower to deploy charging infrastructure for its electric truck fleet at two of its hubs in northern and central Italy.

The installations are located in Corsico, near Milan, and Prato, supporting two different operating patterns. Trucks based at Corsico serve longer routes across the industrial areas of Milan, Bergamo and Brescia, while the Prato fleet is mainly used for short, high-frequency shuttle operations.

In both cases, the trucks return to the depot overnight, allowing Foppiani to use depot charging as the backbone of its electrification strategy, supplemented by daytime top-ups when required. The company, which operates around 100 road tractors, started putting MAN electric trucks into operational service in 2025.

Kempower charging hubs in Corsico and Prato

At Corsico, Foppiani has installed a 250 kW Kempower Power Unit, expandable to 400 kW, connected to a dual-connector Kempower Satellite with dynamic power sharing. The site also features an approximately 350 kWp solar PV system, capable of producing up to around 2 MWh of electricity per day.

According to Kempower, the Corsico charging hub has already delivered 33 MWh of energy to Foppiani’s electric trucks since becoming operational in early 2026.

The Prato installation uses a 100 kW Power Unit, expandable to 200 kW, again combined with a dual-connector Satellite. It primarily supports the company’s intensive local shuttle operations.

Kempower’s distributed architecture separates the central Power Unit from the individual charging points and dynamically allocates available capacity between connected trucks. Each Power Unit can support up to eight charging points, allowing Foppiani to expand the infrastructure as its electric fleet grows.

Electric trucks without changing the operating pattern

According to Foppiani, the charging setup allows its electric trucks to follow substantially the same operating patterns as before electrification: vehicles work during the day, return to their respective depots and recharge overnight.

At Corsico, the combination of depot charging and on-site solar generation also enables part of the energy required by the trucks to be produced directly at the logistics site.

“Going electric only made sense if our trucks could do the same work, day after day. With Kempower chargers in our depots, and now our own solar powering them, our trucks charge at night and set off every morning at full operational readiness,” said Pietro Zanon, Purchase Manager at Fratelli Foppiani Trasporti.
