MAN chose IAA Transportation 2026 to show how its electric flagship is evolving. Rather than completely redesigning the eTGX, the Munich-based manufacturer has focused on some of the elements that matter most for long-haul electric transport: aerodynamics, energy efficiency, battery performance and range.

As we anticipated in this post before the exhibition, the most visible change is at the front. The cab has been extended by 120 mm, allowing MAN’s designers to reshape the nose and improve airflow around the vehicle. According to the manufacturer, the aerodynamic optimisation contributes to an efficiency improvement of around 3%.

The intervention does not radically alter the identity of the TGX. Instead, MAN has taken an evolutionary approach, retaining the familiar proportions of its flagship while introducing a smoother and more aerodynamically efficient front end.

New batteries take the eTGX to 660 km

The changes underneath are at least as significant. The updated eTGX adopts a new generation of batteries, combined with improvements to the vehicle’s recuperation system.

In its current two-axle tractor configuration with six battery packs, the new eTGX can now reach up to 660 kilometres on a single charge, extending its operating range compared with the previous version.

MAN is also preparing a three-axle configuration with a seventh battery pack. Total installed capacity will rise to 644 kWh, allowing the truck to travel more than 700 kilometres between charges.

The modular battery approach remains one of the distinguishing features of MAN’s electric heavy-duty range. Customers can adapt the number of battery packs to the vehicle’s application, balancing range, payload and charging requirements.

Changes inside the cab

MAN has also worked on visibility and the driver’s working environment. The updated cab features a larger windscreen, while an additional lower window in the passenger-side door is intended to improve direct visibility around the truck – particularly useful in urban environments and when manoeuvring close to cyclists or pedestrians.

Inside, the changes follow the same evolutionary philosophy as the exterior. MAN has revised the driver’s interface while maintaining a clear distinction between the infotainment system and the controls directly related to driving functions.

The result is therefore not a completely new eTGX, but a substantial evolution of MAN’s battery-electric flagship. More range, improved aerodynamics and the possibility of adding a seventh battery pack broaden the truck’s potential applications as MAN continues to push its electric range further into long-haul transport.
