Webfleet and primary semi-trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull partner on the development of integrated trailer telematics solutions. Under the so-called OEM.connect programme, promoted by Webfleet itself, Schmitz Cargobull makes it possible to connect trailers with Webfleet via factory fitted telematics, eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware installations. This way they can access powerful trailer data to boost trailer utilisation, reduce downtime and improve overall safety and security.

Practically speaking, fleet operators can connect their trailers to the Webfleet platform easily via the Schmitz Cargobull patented TrailerConnect telematics portal with their VIN number. The collaboration between Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull was sealed at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024.

Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull: mutual benefits

“Trailers are the backbone of long-haul goods transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be challenging,’’ said Taco van der Leij, Vice President Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. ‘’Making our proven Webfleet Trailer solution now easily accessible via OEM data, will help even more businesses with real-time data insights and actionable intelligence maximise trailer performance. We are happy that we are collaborating with Schmitz Cargobull, offering our customers seamless integration with Europe’s leading semi-trailer manufacturer.”

“With the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center from Schmitz Cargobull, hauliers have full control over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in an efficient way. By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, tour and order, more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button in future. The TrailerConnect Data Management Center stands for connectivity and transparency. Everyone involved along the supply chain benefits from this”, added Sören Danielsen, Manager Strategy & Business Development at Schmitz Cargobull.
