Electric mobility, ZF to cooperate with Ford Trucks and Farizon
ZF will work together with Ford Trucks to supply electric drives of the latest generation for its upcoming line of electrified trucks. In addition, ZF will become a full system supplier to Farizon for the development of its cutting-edge range of new energy intelligent trucks. This partnership will be extended also to Farizon's full range of vehicles.
At IAA 2024, ZF announced two strategic cooperations in view of electric mobility development in the field of commercial and industrial vehicles. ZF will work together with Ford Trucks to supply electric drives of the latest generation for its upcoming line of electrified trucks. Indeed, at IAA, Ford Trucks in turn announced the intention to release the electrified version of its F-Line truck range.
ZF and Ford Trucks: the cooperation starts with the CeTrax 2 dual
The first product to be supplied by ZF will be its central electric drive, the CeTrax 2 dual. Also, ZF will supply Ford Trucks with its Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering Pump (EPHS). Equipped with an e-motor, this steering device is designed to provide on-demand hydraulic flow enabling the efficient operation of the commercial vehicle’s hydraulic steering system independent of the vehicle’s drivetrain.
More into details, ZF will first supply the CeTrax 2 dual electric central drive for Ford Trucks’ heavy duty Electric Rigid Truck, which is making its world premiere at the IAA Transportation 2024. Under the agreement, ZF will also supply further electric drive variants as upcoming models enter production.
The MoU signed with Farizon at IAA 2024
In addition, ZF will become a full system supplier to Farizon for the development of its cutting-edge range of new energy intelligent trucks. At IAA, ZF and Farizon signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration builds on a strategic partnership established in June to support Farizon, a leading new energy commercial vehicle manufacturer under the Geely Holding Group, to develop its new energy methanol-hydrogen and electric powered commercial vehicles.
The cooperation will cover solutions for energy consumption optimization, truck-trailer safety and higher levels of intelligence, supported by ZF’s transmissions, e-mobility solutions, braking, suspension, steering, and ADAS technologies. These will be applied not only to heavy-duty trucks but also to Farizon’s full range of vehicles. Additionally, the cooperation also extends to the establishment and improvement of the entire methanol-hydrogen ecosystem. Methanol-hydrogen fuel offers high energy density, cost-effectiveness and emissions benefits, making it a versatile and sustainable alternative to traditional fuels.
