Kempower has supplied infrastructure for the Netherlands’ second largest public heavy-duty fast charging station in Rotterdam, operated by truck charging specialist WattHub. Kempower has worked in collaboration with its sales and service partner, Virta, which delivered the site’s charging management and payment software, and TSG, which delivered the installation.

The 5,000 square meters charging plaza, located at the Rotterdam World Gateway terminal at the Port of Rotterdam, is officially open and the first phase of development saw 3.5 MW of total available power installed. 30 Kempower Satellites are currently live, each delivering up to 400 kW per plug to the connected vehicles.

A second phase of installations will begin before the second half of this year, when a further 1,500 square meters of plaza and 2,100 kW of additional charging power will be added. The site serves both trucks travelling to and from the port and off-highway vehicles working around the terminal.

“Having powered the Netherlands’ largest truck charging plaza in Geldermalsen with WattHub just two years ago, we’re excited to strengthen our partnership with this milestone project at the Port of Rotterdam. There is real momentum around the electrification of trucking at the moment and it’s fantastic to see industrial sites like the Rotterdam World Gateway enabling emissions-free logistics and construction in this way. We’re proud to support this”, commented Han Dix, Country Manager for the Benelux region at Kempower.
