Scania Dynamic brings a new look and upgraded cab to the R and S series
Scania has introduced the new Dynamic package for its R and S series, with a redesigned front end, digital mirrors and extensive changes to the driver environment. Aerodynamic improvements also reduce energy consumption by up to 3% on electric trucks and 2% on combustion-powered models.
Scania used IAA Transportation 2026 to introduce Scania Dynamic, an extensive update for its R and S series that combines a revised exterior design with significant changes inside the cab.
Rather than a completely new generation, Dynamic represents the latest evolution of Scania’s heavy-duty range. The most visible changes concern the front of the truck and the driver’s working and living environment, while a series of aerodynamic improvements also contribute to lower energy consumption.
On the outside, the new Scania Dynamic features a more pronounced front end, redesigned A-pillars, extended side skirts, flush door handles and aerodynamic wheel covers. Traditional mirrors can also be replaced by a new digital rear-view system, with two Full HD displays inside the cab and different standard, zoom and wide-angle views.
Scania Dynamic puts greater focus on the cab
A substantial part of the update is dedicated to the driver. Scania has introduced new interior materials and colour combinations, updated seat upholstery and a revised range of seats designed to improve ergonomics while meeting the latest headrest safety requirements.
For long-haul applications, one of the most interesting additions is a new 800 mm reclining bed, whose back section can be adjusted by up to 60 degrees. The interior lighting has also been redesigned, with several options ranging from functional white lighting to configurable ambient settings for working and resting.
Other additions include an updated surround sound system, a magnetic 15 W wireless charger and a ventilated external compartment designed to store and dry wet or dirty gloves.
Visibility has also received attention. In addition to the digital mirrors, Scania has introduced updated LED headlights with improved high-beam range and a wider light pattern. A 360-degree camera system is also available to support manoeuvring around the vehicle.
Up to 3% lower energy consumption
The exterior changes are not purely cosmetic. According to Scania, the combination of the redesigned front, digital mirrors, A-pillars, extended side skirts and other aerodynamic measures can reduce overall energy consumption by up to 3% for battery-electric trucks and 2% for combustion-powered vehicles, depending on configuration and operation.
Scania Dynamic also introduces an expanded set of driver assistance and safety functions. Among them is Safe Stop Assist, which can bring the truck to a controlled stop if the system detects that the driver is unable to continue driving. Other functions address following distance, vulnerable road users and speed adaptation.
The Dynamic update applies to both electric and ICE versions of the R and S series, reflecting Scania’s approach of progressively improving its existing heavy-duty platform rather than limiting the changes to a specific powertrain.
