As reported by Germany-based international platform Electrive, Traton Group could build a third battery assembly plant for truck key components in Europe. This is due to to the idea that electric truck demand may rise quite soon, as the roadmap outlined by the EU Commission shows.

The ground-breaking collaboration and electric transition are the result of discussions initiated by IKEA Supply Chain Operations and Scania Group in 2023. Similar electric transitions for the transportation of IKEA products are also taking place in southern France and Poland.

Erinion was established with the aim of supporting customers' transition to electric transport. Initially, the new company will establish its market presence in Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Germany. A global rollout will follow in due course.

This means it is now possible to place orders for Scania’s 40-tonne autonomous heavy tipper for mining. Scania will start sales of its autonomous mining solutions in Australia, with first deliveries and start of operation scheduled from 2026.
