Developers from Mercedes-Benz Trucks successfully charged for the first time a prototype of the eActros 600, which was presented last year, at a charging station with an output of one megawatt at the in-house development and testing center in Wörth am Rhein.

Contargo will use its e-truck for the transportation of containers between the port of Wörth am Rhein and various loading and unloading points. Remondis will use the test vehicle in Cologne as part of the so-called HoLa-project.

The tests were carried out between January and March, when refined prototypes of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 had to face temperatures falling as low as minus 35 degrees Celsius to prove their viability under adverse conditions. The eActros 600 will be serially produced from the end of 2024.

An initial fleet of 5 trucks of the model Mercedes eActros 300 will transport ten daily full truck loads. The charging infrastructure built to power the routes is based on Kempower charging solution, integrated with Saga.
