During the Automated & Electric Trucking demonstration event, held on April 10th at APM Terminals Maasvlakte II, an electric truck manufactured by DAF was charged using the hihgly innovative robotized charging system conceived and developed by Dutch company ROCSYS. The event was part of the MAGPIE project — an initiative co-funded by the European Horizon 2020 program.

DAF and ROCSYS: an all-Dutch cooperation

The demonstration at Maasvlakte II “represents a significant milestone in the automation of logistics operations on industrial sites, and is a prelude to new applications of automated trucks in industrial zones and on public roads in the distant future“, according to the official press release issued by ROCSYS. Here’s an inteview we published a few years ago with ROCSYS CEO, Crijn Bowman.

«What we want to do is integrating the charging process into professional operation. We might say that charging should not be a headache for fleet owners. In addition, the charging operation may be seen as a small task but it’s quite a big responsibility because possible mistakes may cause big trouble. Our system helps preventing human mistakes by automating the process, where we go for 100 percent reliability», told us Bowman at that time.
