The two companies aim to manufacture lithium-ion based batteries for several electric vehicles, including electric trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, agricultural machines, as well as electric construction equipment.

Production in Salzgitter will start in 2025. In future, the plant is to reach an annual capacity of 40 GWh – enough for about 500,000 electric vehicles. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz attended the ground breaking ceremony.
