In a very challenging year for the European commercial and industrial vehicle industry, electrically-chargeable trucks above 3.5 tonnes now secure 4.2% of the market, up from 2.3% last year. Electrically-chargeable vans now capture a 11.2% market share, an increase from 6.1% last year.

“2026 has to be the year Europe turns challenges into real progress, delivering pragmatic solutions that protect competitiveness while driving decarbonisation. Europe must quickly become our strong home market for zero-emission technologies", Rådström said.

Times are still quite challenging for the whole commercial vehicle sector, with new EU van registrations falling by 8.2%, with the three largest markets contributing to the downturn.
